I recently purchases as SWIM 8 and splitter (self installed from Weaknees) it was a snap. Future plan is to upgrade to a Genie with remotes.
Roadblock with DirecTV is that they have no record of the SWIM 8 on the account b/c they didn't install it. So many features such as whole home are deactivated.
Have tried dozens of times with many reps to get this overridden and they can't seem to do it. They insist on sending a tech out and billing me for a visit to have them "tweak" my installation which is working perfectly aside from the issue of the SWIM not being on the account.
Has anyone had a similar issue with self installation? What magic words to i need to use with the brain surgeons on the phone to make them "get it"??
