Series 2 upgrade not working

I ordered the 140060 upgrade kit over a year ago because I thought my current drive was about to die. It finally would not go past the orange 'just a few minutes more' screen, so I finally did the upgrade.
With the new drive it goes through the motions until only the green light is on, but never moves past the grey 'Welcome. Powering up' screen.
I put the old drive back in as a test, and it would still go to the orange screen. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
