  • Replacing Premiere harddrive

    Hi folks,

Just a quick question regarding replacing my hard drive on my TiVo premiere. It's about six years old, and now I got the dreaded welcome screen that won't go away so I'm assuming it's the hard drive. I've also read that it could be the power supply, but I'm going to shoot for The hard drive first.

My question is, if I buy another TiVo premiere from craigslist, for example, can I take the hard drive out of that premier and put it into my premiere? Or does my lifetime subscription know which hard drive is in my premiere?

    Thanks!

You can move a hard drive if it's from the exact same model TiVo, and if, after you move it, you do a "clear and delete everything."

We really don't recommend using an unknown old hard drive though. It might not last long at all.

But your lifetime service will still work with that old drive.
    Been here a long time . . .
