  • Can TiVo HD DVR be stood on its side?

I finally moved my HD DVR into the living room (Comcast 2 year agreement finally up, so was able to cut cord and return to antenna TV), but it doesn't fit under/to one side of the TV. I was wondering if I could stand the DVR on its side and run it that way? There are no vent openings on the sides. To me, the only issue is if the hard drive can run vertically instead of horizontally. I recently replaced the hard drive (with a weaKnees drive of course ), so its movement shouldn't be too sloppy. I would shut the DVR off before repositioning it to avoid head crashes. I chatted with TiVo support, and they only recommend it be placed in a horizontal position.
Has anyone tried this, or see why this wouldn't work?

Yes - the hard drive can run vertically. It's really just about the heat. As long as the unit doesn't get too hot, you should be fine.
    Been here a long time . . .
