"Clearing and Deleting Everything" Stuck?

Hi, I've been having some problems with my Directivo. It's a RCA DVR 40. I had not lights on the panel and no picture, but the fan spun. I ordered a new power supply, installed it today. The unit booted up, but I had no picture still. I came accross the option to clear and delete everything, I selected it, it says it takes up to an hour to complete, but has now been going for well past two, it also says don't unplug the unit. Does anyone have any suggestions on something to try?

How did you get the "clear and delete" screen if you had no picture?

If you're stuck there forever, you likely have a failed drive.
