Not getting any video output. The red light on the front will flash in response to some commands from the remote, but no video/audio output. Connected to a DVD recorder with audio cables and S-video cable.Leave a comment:

Sure - if it hasn't learned from DTV that it's inactive, then it should continue to play shows indefinitely. Just don't hook up the phone line or the satellite cables.Leave a comment:

Any way of retrieving content from DirecTV Samsung S4080R?
Recently upgraded to DirecTV HD but still have content remaining on my former unit, a DirecTV Samsung S4080R TiVo. Will the unit playback what has been recorded if connected to a DVD recorder? If not, is it possible to download the recordings to a computer?
