  • Hard Drive bad?

I have a Hughes HDVR2 that has recently started to freeze, jump, and occasionly reboot (almost makes you think it was running on Windows! ) during playback, but works fine on live tv.
I have no problem with openning up the Tivo reciever and changing the hd in it, if everyone thinks that is what the problem is (hate to spend the money on the hd only to find out it was a bad chip somewhere).
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    TIA
    DJW

Sounds most like a drive problem. I'd definitely suggest a replacement and if it doesn't work, a hard drive purchased through weaKnees is returnable. Our return policy can be found here:

    http://www.weaknees.com/payment.php

And the drive options for your model can be found here:

    Let us know what happens!
That's all there is to it!

      Thanks for your reply.
I was about to order your replacement HD (160gb), but decided to try the complete reset delete/clear.
That seems to have fixed the problem for the time being (I'm not sure if that forces a complete reformat, chkdsk, plus rewriting the operating system or not, but it took 2 1/2 hours to complete ).
Anyway, I'm sure I have some bad sectors in there. If it gives me anymore problems, I'll be ordering your HD kit.

That's good to hear. And 2 1/2 hours is better than waiting for the UPS guy.
