  • Series 2 possible power supply issue?

I have a series 2 TCD24004A, about 4 years old. I recently disconnected it when I moved, and upon reconnecting it I got no power. Replaced the power cord, still no power. I then tried jiggling the cord where it was connected to the tivo box...it began to spark a little bit and it did eventually turn on and power up like normal once i held it in a certain position....However once i moved it again it turned back off.

Would replacing the power supply likely solve this problem, or is it not worth messing with?

I should add that it sat for 2-3 months before I reconnected it...it wasn't like I just moved it to another room and it all of a sudden stopped working.

Yes, a power supply should be the first thing you try. They are here:

            Tcd24004a

TIVO fan runs, no lights are displayed at all.

            TIVO setup to TV is:
Wall Cable to RF IN on TIVO and then RF OUT from TIVO to TV.
No Cable box, No DVR or any other component.
TIVO and TV are set to Channel 3

TV does not display any video screen or audio.

Hard Drive has been replaced purchased from weaKnees.

Is it the possibly the power supply? Again TIVO Fan is running no lights displayed

            Thanks

This is consistent with a bad power supply, but you'll learn more by using composite cables from the TiVo to the TV. Generally, though, no lights is a good sign of a bad power supply, even if the fan is spinning.

Changed the Power Supply and the unit is up and running, quick and easy! Thank you.
