  • Home Networking Question

I have two Series 2 machines that are TiVo manufactured. I will be replacing both with Series 3 machines. I just ordered the first from Weaknees. I intend to transfer the lifetime service to the new units. After that is done can I still use the old machines in my home network even though they will both no longer have any kind of service agreement or will the mothership at TiVo kill that possibility. It would be nice if I can move non high def stuff to those machines through the network.

What lifetime transfer package are you looking to use? They generally include one year of service on the older unit (so networking would work) but we don't know of any transfer programs that are currently active.

I called TiVo and they told me that I can transfer my lifetime service until April something for $199

OK - we don't know of that program. But generally the $199 packages include one year of service on the older unit, so you should be OK.
