HD Tivo Questions

I am wanting to switch from Directv to an HD Tivo. I want to use it only for standard definition but want to record from two digital signals at once.

I am having a hard time with the cable company telling me if this Tivo will work. My questions are will I need two digital cable inputs or does this unit only require one.

And I have read that I might or might not need this cable card. I was unable to figure out what this card is and what it does, If I am only interested in SD x 2 are these something that I need?

You need only one cable feed.

Whether you need cards depends on your cable company. Any station that you'd be able to get with a cable plugged into a cable-ready TV you'll be able to get on the TiVoHD without a CableCARD. Any station that requires a cable box from your cable company will require a cable card in the TiVo in liue of that cable box.
