  • GSOD - can I save my recordings?

Hi, My Series 2 180GB Dual Tuner TiVo (TiVo branded model 649180) is stuck in a GSOD/reboot loop. I've just ordered a 300GB upgrade drive from weaknees as a replacement for the presumably bad original drive, but was wondering whether there's any way to retrieve any of the recorded programming off the original?

For instance, can I place the original drive in the second bay (assuming this box even supports two drives) with the new drive in the first bay, boot off the new drive, and somehow access (at least some of) my programming on the original drive?

    Thanks!

The only way to recover, and it's a long shot, is to copy the entirety of your drive onto another drive, hoping that once you get the data onto a good drive, the unit will recover from that GSOD. In your situation, with the factory drive not recovering, the chances that a copy will work are not huge. We do offer a data recovery service, so contact us if you are interested.
