  • No video or audio on the live TV portion...

About a month ago, our Directv Tivo starting acting funny and then stopped working all together; we replaced the power supply to get it going again. After we installed the new power supply and hooked up the Tivo, it kept doing the same thing is was doing before we replaced the power supply; we can watch what we have recorded on the Tivo, but cannot get any video or audio on the live TV portion of the Tivo. We select a channel from the guide, the information banner comes up, but then only shows a black screen. We tried one of our other standard receivers in it's place and it worked just fine. We called Directv for help, but they couldn't give us any answers. Anyone else have this problem? We love our Tivo and don't want to go with a Directv DVR. Thanks for any information.

We have seen this problem on a few TiVos recently, but don't know why it is happening. You might want to call DIRECTV and ask them to re-authorize your access card.

Could it be an access card that has gone bad, or Directv no longer reading that card? Have you seen access cards go back before?

Turns out this issue was in-fact a bad access card. A new card fixed the issue.

Not the most common event, but one that sure happens . . .
