Checking power supply

How can I know if my power supply is bad? The cooling fan is running and the green light is on in the front, so I would think its ok. My unit is a TIVO HDVR2

Do you get any video output at all, from any connection? That's generally the best test. Fans often run with bad power supplies. Lights vary.

Of course, the other way is just to try a replacement. See our TiVo power supplies.

Then you should really try a replacement. If you have another identical model in your house, you could try swapping the power supplies. Otherwise, order one from the link above.
