  • Series2 stuttering after 2 HD replacements

    Hi folks:

Not sure where to go from here. I upgraded the single drive on both my series 2 units to larger capacity. Since then, on longer recordings (1 - 3 hours) I will get generally one stutter per hour - pixellates, broken sound, lasts about 5 seconds but only loses about a second or two of content. Definitely in the recording as replay also shows it. Not in source as other recordings don't show it.

Spoke to the supplier who sent me 2 new replacement drives. (all Seagates) Same problem. Never happened with old drives.

Tivo says that since the drives are larger than what was ever available on my unit(s) that could be the problem. (???) I am not sure I buy that.

    Any ideas here?

    Thanks,
    Matt D

Is the stuttering/pixellation in the exact same place when you rewind? If so, that is typically an indication that it's not the drive. I'd recommend you use the factory drive for a longer period to confirm that it isn't happening with other drives.
