How to back up old drive

My Tivo hard drives are dying. how or can I transfer the programs to a new hard drive?

Or is there a way to back up the data (programs)?

Lots of options. Do it yourself here:

If you do a kit, you need the $79 installation and copy service.

Also look for TiVo Desktop to copy shows to your PC.

Gotcha! I forgot about using my tivo desktop.

So after I install the new hard drive I can transfer the programs from my computer back to my tivo?

Yes, but you have to purchase TiVo Desktop Plus from TiVo's website.
