  • Tivo options with DirecTV satellite?

I've had Tivo since the series I and currently have a series 2 (lifetime subscription) and DirecTV via satellite (i.e. coax signal). I live in a rural area and cannot get cable but can get satellite from DirecTV or Dish. I would like to stay with Tivo but am concerned about the availability of the Series 2 as my unit ages. I don't see them for sale anymore on Weaknees. What are my options to still use Tivo with DirecTV, keeping my lifetime subscription?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Well, you can get this DirecTV TiVo and get programming in HD:

Your lifetime subscription won't help here - you'll have to pay a TiVo fee to DTV for this. But also your lifetime subscription is tied to your Series2 - it cannot be moved forward to any other piece of hardware anyway.
    Been here a long time . . .

If I were to buy a used Series 2 as a backup with a lifetime subscription, will Tivo still honor that subscription? If so, how do you transfer the subscription? Do you need the previous owner's consent?
      Thanks,
      Chris

You'd have to ask TiVo those questions.
