  • Dual tuner question for RCA Directv unit

I have a RCA brand Directv Tivo unit that has started getting very poor if any reception on tuner #2.

I have tried swapping the cables on the back of the unit to see if the problem would change tuners along with the cable swap, but it did not.

    So here's my questions:

1- I use a multiswitch on the outside of the house, is there a possibility that this may be affecting the tuner somehow?

2- If my box itself is indeed the source of the problem, can it be repaired in a cost effective manner?

    3- Any other recomendations?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

1 - If you swap the cables and the problem stays with tuner #2, then no, it's not the multiswitch.

    2 - Yes:

3 - Not really. Replacing the box costs more:

    Been here a long time . . .

      Thanks for the quick response.

As my Tivo is fairly old, I would like to have the hard drive replaced while the tuner is being replaced and have all my old programs copied to my new drive.

Also, would it be a good idea to replace the other tuner as well assuming they have a given life span?

Thanks again for your quick reponse.
