    Any way of retrieving content from DirecTV Samsung S4080R?

    Recently upgraded to DirecTV HD but still have content remaining on my former unit, a DirecTV Samsung S4080R TiVo. Will the unit playback what has been recorded if connected to a DVD recorder? If not, is it possible to download the recordings to a computer?

    Sure - if it hasn't learned from DTV that it's inactive, then it should continue to play shows indefinitely. Just don't hook up the phone line or the satellite cables.

      Michael, Thanks for your response. After a couple of attempts, I'm getting no response from the unit. Do I have any other means of retrieving the content from the hard drive?

        No lights on the front? No video output? What's happening?

          Not getting any video output. The red light on the front will flash in response to some commands from the remote, but no video/audio output. Connected to a DVD recorder with audio cables and S-video cable.

                OK - or try composite (yellow video cable).
