  • clicking/video freeze

At times my unit will start making a clicking sound (not sure how else to describe it) and the video freezes (doesn't disappear but just freezes). The sound seems periodic (i.e. occurs at a constant rate). If I unplug the unit, wait a bit and then plug it back in, everything seems ok. It may run for a couple of days before re-occurring.
My unit is an old Hughes DVR2. I'm guessing its a hard drive problem. I'm thinking if it was a power supply issue I wouldn't see any output. The fan seems like it is still running.
Is the hard drive slowly dying? Or is it something else?
    Thanks

Sounds very much like a drive problem to me. I'd suggest a replacement kit. Try here:

And let us know how it goes!
That's all there is to it!
