  • HDVR2 Phone Problems

Replaced my hard drive in my HDVR2 unit and had to go through the guided setup process again. Ran into trouble near the end, couldn't make the phone call to get the list of local dial-in numbers. Kept getting "Service not answering". Tried a couple of the prefix tricks mentioned on the site, to no avail. Finally tried using the ,#019 prefix and the call was able to go through.

What does the ,#019 prefix do? And why do I now have to have the prefix when I didn't have to use it before I put the new hard drive in? Went from dual 160GB hard drives to a single 500GB hard drive.

That prefix slows the modem down. My guess is that you were having trouble dialing in with your previous drive, but so long as it succeeds once in 30 days, you'd never know.
