DirecTV Tivos, no phone line

We currently have two DirecTV Tivos, a Series 1 Phillips and a Series 2 R10, but would love to be able to ditch our landline phone service. Is this even remotely possible with the DirecTV Tivos? We have a wireless network in the house, but I don't think that will help with either of these, and the USB ports are useless on them because of DirecTV's programming last I heard. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Bottom line is that the R10 would be fine, save for the features mentioned in the blog post. The Series 1 might have some issues.
