HDMI + Component for HD Tivo

For the HD Tivo...can HDMI and component connections be used together on the same TV? Does one cancel the other, or are they both active at all times?

Looking forward to receiving my HD Tivo from WeaKnees in a couple of days!!...

On the TiVo HD and the TiVo Series3, both are active simultaneously.
