  • 2 Drive TiVo with possible bad 2nd Drive

I have a SONY SVR 2000. I added a hard drive to my unit from information I received on this site about 2 years or so ago. I also purchased a network card from you that I added about that same time. Recently the unit has started locking up. It sems as though it can happen at any time but recently has started acting up more often.

I have a feeling it's from the 2nd drive I added. Is there a way to simply replace that drive? Can the drive just be ghosted to a new drive and added back? If not, do you have instructions on how to correct this problem?

    Thanks

No, there really isn't an easy way...but you can remove both drives and install 1 new one if you want.

That one new drive would need to be pre-formatted, which you can't do if your drives are dead. We have preformatted drives here:

          Drives not dead

The drives are not dead just dying. I think the original disk is probably okay, but the drive I added some time back seems to be going.
