  • Series 3 Freezing

I think it's requiring a new hard drive, but I thought I'd ask...

For the past 2 days the Series 3 HD (only 18 months old) has been freezing and restarting itself. It will seem to work for a few hours then just start freezing up and not function. I've tried rebooting (once, twice and several times in a row) and that doesn't seem to help. I tried rebooting, holding 'Pause' to get to a diagnostic I read about on tivo.com, but that never worked. Any other suggestions? Also, if I have to switch out the hard drive (which I had to do on an older S2 a while back), can someone point me to a link to transfer all my settings, etc...?

Thanks for the help in advance.

That's almost definitely a hard drive problem. A "replace" kit for your model should fix the problem:

It's really not a good idea to transfer settings; you could be moving corruption to the new drive.
    Been here a long time . . .

I appreciate the response. I'm not really interested in the settings as I am in transferring all the shows I have recorded. Any ideas on the best way to do that?

To do what? A new drive is at that link. To transfer shows, you need TiVoToGo.
