  • 7-1 Gone Since Digital Conversion

    DirecTV TiVo HR10-250
All digital OTA channels survived the digital conversion EXCEPT for San Francisco's Channel 7-1, -2, -3.

DirecTV feeds an SD signal to this DVR on channel 7, so the digital conversion eliminated our ability to receive ABC's HD. The TV does not have a digital tuner. The TiVo OTA tuner is our only digital tuner.

I know that CH 7's digital channels moved from UHF to VHF 7 during the conversion, so I deleted OTA scanned channels and rescanned. This didn't work, so I disconnected the antenna, deleted/rescanned, reconnected the antenna and scanned again. Still no HD Channel 7.

Any similar experiences with this DVR - or advice on what to do next???

I have an answer to my own question.

The OTA digital signal strength for Channel 7 is poor enough that the signal can't be identified by the TiVo's tuner. So, it's up to the rooftop.

Yup - we've seen that in several situations. In most cities, all of the broadcast antennas are in one place, you can get pretty much the same strength across the channels, but maybe not in SF.
      Been here a long time . . .
