Toshiba 400 "searching for signal"

My Toshiba 400 gives the error message "searching for signal". I have a direct cable connection (no box). When I put tivo on stand-by, the tv shows a perfect picture. I have tried various connections, but nothing helps. I have run through guided setup with no problems. Is this a motherboard problem?

Most likely, yes it is a bad motherboard.

If you have lifetime service, yes.

If you don't have lifetime service, you might consider upgrading to HD, or just getting a Humax unit:
