  • Help! Don't know a thing about this subject.

I have an old old Tivo my daughter bought me about ten years ago. It is a
    Philips
    model HDR212BK01

I believe it originally was a 20 hour tivo, but my son-in-law purchased a hard drive from Hinsdale TiVo Upgrades and it became a 176 hour wonderful machine. That was if I used basic setting.
Anyway I've had it for ten years and I must replace it. It is skipping and missing the sound sometimes at different places on the drive.
I can't find anywhere to get a replacement.. Could it be too old now? I am so sad because I love my Tivo.
Really, can anyone help me. Thanks so much,
    Sandy K.

That's almost definitely a hard drive problem. A "replace" kit for your model should fix the problem:

How can I tell if I have a tivo that holds one or two hard drives?
Don't think I phrased that technically enough but I hope you understand. And I hoped I spelled that big word correctly.
Here is the one I think I should order.
Philips HDR212 TiVo Upgrade Kit: Replace with one 160gb hard drive.
Is that right? I would like as many as hours as I can get.
        Thanks
        Sandy K.

Your unit can hold two drives. If you want the most space, get the dual 160 GB kit for $199.
