    Problem with Samsung SIR-4040R

    I have a Samsung SIR-4040R Direct TV DVR I just installed new fans (one quite working) when I plugged the unit back in the fans work but the green power light does not come on and I get nothing from the DVR. It was working before I installed the new fans. I have double-checked all of the connections.

    Does anyone have any thoughts?

    Check the cable from your power supply to the motherboard.

      I checked and cleaned the cable from the power supply to the mother board at first the unit stared to power up Hard drives were working and green power light was on then it went back to the same problem. After cleaning the cables again it still won’t work

        Then you probably have a power supply in the intermittent stages of failure.

          Thanks for all your help If the power supply was starting to fail why to the fans always work.

            I don't know on a technical level, but we see that all the time. The power supply provide enough wattage for a fan, but just not enough for the rest of the unit, for whatever reason. We really do see it quite frequently.
