  • Old Sony SVR worth repair?

I was given an old Sony SVR2000 because I'm a tinkerer. Its supposed to have the Lifetime Sub, but won't get past the first screen, signifying bad hard drive.

Is it worth a $100 hard drive for this old dog?

    Thanks Dave

Reading a bit more about this model it appears no sub is required for manual recording. That seems to make it a bit more appealing to fix, should the lifetime sub not be in effect.
Still not sure whether the $ would be better towards a newer unit.

BTW I don't have any HD service, only OTA and 10' Satelite dish programs & subscription.

If you have lifetime TiVo service on the unit, we'd consider it worth repairing. Our repairs don't impact the TiVo service.

Checking with Tivo today, I find it does not have active service.

Can you briefly describe if and what it will do "manually" without a sub?

It'll record a current show, and you can set it to record by time and channel a few days in the future. It'll also pause live TV.
          Been here a long time . . .

            Thanks Again

Almost worthwhile to put the drive in. Dave
