remote problems

Tivo support suggests reset the IR receivers on my Sony DVR-2000 by shining a bright lite into the receivers. What light source do they consider bright? System makes it to "hit the power button message", but does not flash back the yellow light for message received, when I hit the remote buttons.

I have never heard of this suggestion before. You likely have a bad remote or a bad IR sensor inside the TiVo. Do you have another remote you can try?
