  • Wireless N Network Adapter

My new N does not make a viable network connection with an older adapter 20 feet away in clear sight. How can I boost the range?

The N adapters have been pretty powerful around here, but it won't connect directly to another adapter. How far is the access point?

      Wireless N adapter

Its about 20 feet direct line of sight to the nearest adapter which is a G. Through a wall and another 10 feet to my Mac's Time Machine which maintains my home network.

The line of sight to the other adapter really doesn't matter - these don't connect peer-to-peer.

The wall may be the issue. Can you move each to a doorway to get a better signal and see what happens?

          Wireless N adapter

No doorways are available and running a cable is out of the question as it would have to go through the living room and might wind up being 40-50 feet long.

            Should I try buying a G adapter

I'm not a networking expert, but I thought N was supposed to be a more robust signal.
