TIVO HD TCD652160 does not respond to Kickstart

    TIVO HD TCD652160 does not respond to Kickstart

    I have tried to follow the weaknees kickstart instructions without success. I unplug the TIVO for more than 15 seconds. I plug it back in. All the lights and the words "fixed" "native" and "hybrid" flash quickly on and off. Then, the green light comes on solid for a moment and then flashes twice and goes solid.

    Have tried holding down the pause button while it starts, pressing and holding it when the green light flashes and pressing it when the green light flashes and letting go and entering a code.

    None of these work. I get the welcome screen, the wait screen and eventually the green screen of death.

    How do I get it to kickstart?

    If you can't boot the unit, then, sometimes, you can't do the kickstart.

      Thanks for your quick response.

      I like to tinker. Is there a downside to getting the same model TIVO in working order used on eBay and swapping the hard drive from the used model into my TIVO? Or, is there a better way short of the weaKnees route? I have nothing against you guys, but I would love to be able to do it all myself with a cheap unit off eBay.

        That should work, provided the other unit boots. You'll have this problem:
