  • Stringing shows together

I want to sleep in on Saturday mornings and get up once to turn on the TV for my toddler. Is there anyway to program the tivo to string the shows together so I don't have to get up every 23 minutes when Dora is over?

There is no built-in way to do this in the TiVo. One possible solution is to look for stations and times that show Dora back-to-back, and then set your TiVo to record that block. You can either record manually or, better yet, set the recording options to go for 30 minutes longer than normal. Your toddler would have to sit through some commercials in between, but it should work.

The other option is to record several shows from the TiVo onto a DVD and play the DVD in the morning, rather than the TiVo.

Don't worry, your son/daughter will be learning how to use the TiVo themselves in short order! One of my sons was hitting "record" at 4 yrs old.

Seriously, Jeff had a good suggestion -- find a Dora marathon and record them all in one manual recording or extend the recording by 30 min., 1, 1.5 or 3 hours. There's also a block of programming -- PBS Kids? -- that runs for like 2 or 3 hours that includes shows like "Timothy Goes to School" that might appeal to your toddler.

And if you program your remote with the 30 second skip, then your child can just keep clicking that one button until Dora/Timothy/Blue just reappears on the screen. Kids don't always get the hang of the ff buttons at a very young age.
        Been here a long time . . .
