  • Missing a few high-Def Channels

Ok... I have a bizarre problem with my Series 3 TiVo HD DVR. It began when the cable company replaced my cable from the street to the connecting block.

The problem is that I'm missing a few (not all) high-def channels. (Yes, I made sure that the channels are selected in the Settings). For example, the cable company broadcasts ABC on both 231 and 801. Both of those channels give me a gray screen with a TiVo message box that says:
Searching for signal on: Line In

I do receive the missing channels in non high-def.

The cable company has changed the cable cards (didn't work) and the channels work just fine using a cable company dvr on the line.

I've reset the TiVo and repeated Guided Setup. Nothing works.

I'm thinking it's a line problem, but, the cable company thinks it's a TiVo problem.

    Any ideas out there? (BTW-I'm a techno-idiot.)

    Thanks!

Update: I've determined that it's the channels that use frequency 111 Mhz .

Sounds like you might need an SDV (switched digital video) adapter. Can you ask the cable company?

Spent 4 hours with the Comcast technician today and 2 hours on the phone with TiVo's "cable card specialists". They're out of solutions.

I'll call and ask the cable company about this adapter. Thanks Michael.

        Not SDV

Comcast says they aren't using Switched Digital. They also said that, if they were using SD, I'd be missing a bunch of channels, not just 8.

It's very bizarre because I'm missing 4 of the HD channels in the 200's and 4 of the same channels in the 800's. For example, ABC is both 231 and 801 and both channels say "searching for signal: cable in". So, I'm really only missing 4 channels.

        Any other ideas?

It could be that the tuner on your TiVo has failed. Does the cable company hook up another unit at the same exact location that works fine?
