  • Premier external drive not recognized by TiVo

I just set up a Weaknees Premier system that I bought in the summer but sat in the box until now. However, the OS isn't recognizing the drive. It gives me a message saying I should add it for the extra capacity but then says the drive is unsupported … So, do I need to force something with a command?

    thanks,

    david

Did you divorce the external drive during setup?
    Been here a long time . . .

Yes. And I had to send it back in to get it fixed, which was done. However, on a related note: My old TiVo HD with an external drive is very unhappy (pixels, crashing, videos stopping). It's certainly the external drive, which sounds like an old propellor airplane taking off. However, the drive in the actual TiVo box may still be working. Can I divorce the drives and will the list of shows rebuild itself to show just the files on the box? The drives function as a logical unit but are the files split between them?

      thanks,

      david m.

If you divorce the external, the unit will continue to function, but anything that was recorded after the external was added will be gone.
