  • Series4 unplug and reboot

Having a problem while trying to watch a recorded program and get a blank TV monitor. After unplugging and rebooting the Tivo everything is fine for about 24 hours and it happens again. Once it did it twice in about 3 hours.

    Thankx

      It's not the HDMI cable.

You should try the overnight kickstart test:

Having a problem getting it into the Kickstart menu. Have tried several key combo's w/o luck.

Held the pause key right after restated.
Held the pause key right after the red/ amber/blue lit up.
Waited for the amber light to start flashing and then held the pause key and typed in 54.
Waited for the amber light to start flashing, hit the pause key once and then typed 54
Nothing I'm doing will get "the blue and amber lights will blink in alternating patterns to indicate the code has been accepted."

Seems that sometimes people just can't get it to go - I'd just try it again, slowly and carefully.

Forgot to mention that a external drive was also connected. After talking to Tivo, they said spin down the external first and power cycle the box. After getting into the Kickstart menu it reported the external was fine and the internal "test failed" under the S.M.A.R.T screen. I then tried the longer, but not the overnight and got an "OK". So I am not sure if there is a problem on not on a 3 year old drive.

If you've got S.M.A.R.T. problems, you've got problems.

You can find replacement drive kits here:
