  • Tivo HD rebooting and not getting video

I have an old Tivo HD that I need to keep using, new Tivo Roamio's and Bolt's cause me eye strain

The Tivo had been going fine for years, util about 6 months ago it started spontaneously rebooting. I would try Kickstarter 57, it would work for a bit, then start rebooting again. Eventually it was just boot looping and never getting anywhere.

So I ordered a new HDD off Weakness in July, installed it, and everything was fine again, until about a week ago, it started rebooting again, and it would reboot to having no picture, and no response from the remote. I pulled the plug, didn't help, I ran kickstarted 57, didn't help. I tried the "Remove cable card, rerun guided setup" and that completed, I put the cable card back in, reran guided setup, it got to the point where it asked me to confirm what channel 50 was, I was getting a picture, then I got a "Please Wait" prompt, and after a few minutes, reboot, and no picture, no response from remote

Does this sound like power supply problem? Or is the new HDD crapping out after a few months of use? It's a 6 year old Tivo HD

Yes - that sounds like a bad power supply. And the Series3 units are known for power supply problems (in part just due to their age at this point).

See this page for more info:

    And we sell replacements here:

Thanks for the link, I already ordered a replacement, I hope it works. I can always return it if that doesn't do the trick.

I don't know if you can answer this, but is there any recourse if it is in fact the Hard Drive I ordered from Weakness and installed in July? If that turns out to be the issue I would be surprised at such a short lifespan.

Our hard drive kits have six month warranties, so it would be covered.

Well, new power supply showed up, I installed it, powered up, ran guided setup, and so far, so good. Hope that was it!
