Won't restart. Just keeps cycling from welcome to GSOD with a message that the TiVo is trying to fix the problem. How do I get it to stop the cycle and go to a start up?

Try unplugging anything except power and video output - so cable in, USB, network, and CableCARD.Been here a long time . . . -
External Storage Missing

Yea, I didn't want to lose some of my recordings, so I have not hit the "clear" key.Comment

If the unit is cycling with only the external plugged in, then you may not be able to salvage recordings...you likely have a bad drive. You can then use the clear button (with the external disconnected) to see if your unit will run with only the internal....but overall, the best plan may be to get one drive to replace both.Comment

Well the results are in. Now I have a new cycle. We're going from the "press clear" screen, to the "3 thumbs down screen to continue without the external drive" screen to the "almost there" screen and back. No joy.Comment

Oh, did I mention I have an original Series 3? Don't know if that helps.

Update
It stayed stuck into the 2nd "press clear" cycle without the external drive. I have in, unplugged, plugged in the external drive, and gave her power. We're still in the GSOD mode that is cycling (same as previous.).
