  • "Powering Up" Problem 2 drives

I getting hung up on the "Powering Up" scren so it looks like I need a new hard drive. I have a RCA DVR40 that was a single drive, but I installed a 2nd drive to bump it up to 180 hours.

I assume that the "Powering Up" problem means that the older "A" drive is the bad one nd needs to be repalced?

If I get a replacement drive is there any chance that any of my recordings will be recovered on the 2nd drive? And if not, will I still get the extra recording times?

Actually, without testing, there's really no way to know which drive is causing the problem. It's even possible that both drives are at fault.

Regardless, if either drive is bad, the recordings on the good drive aren't something you can recover. The way TiVos write to two drives really doesn't allow recapture of data from only one.
    Been here a long time . . .
