  • Old to Tivo, New to DirecTV

I've had a Series 2 Tivo for a year now. I just got DirecTV. I can't seem to find the right cord/cable/whatever needed to allow me to use both. Can anyone help?

Do you want the TiVo to record from the DirecTV box? If so, you need either an IR blaster or some type of serial cable to control the DTV box:

Thanks, Michael. I'm a little less confused. So I plug the IR blaster into my Tivo, and I'm good to go? I had been thinking that I needed to plug something into both the Tivo and the DirecTV box.

Well, you plug it into the TiVo, but you need to have the emitter end in front of the IR receiver on the DTV unit.

I've got my IR blaster set up, but when I go to the channels settings, there are no DirecTV receivers listed. Is there some other brand of receiver that I can use to get the TiVo to change channels?

What is your model DTV receiver?

              I believe it's a D11. I just received it yesterday.

Okay. Well the D11 does connect with the IR blaster cable, and you should use TiVo code 10074.
