  • DirecTV DVR searching for signal issues

I have two SD DVRs (not sure which part #s yet) and I get the "searching for signal" message on only one of them. Last night I switched them to see if it was a bad receiver but I had the same problem on certain channels. Now I'm really dreading the thought of calling DirecTV because they will most likely charge a service fee to come out. Being the DIYer that I am, I would like to try and fix it myself!

I ordered a new multiswitch and installed it and the problem got even worse. So now I've reinstalled the original multiswitch and the problem seems to be getting worse with more channels dissapearing. The person I bought it from suggested that it might be one of the LNBs going bad.

Anybody have suggestions? Thanks for your help!

If the problem stays with the unit when you swap locations, then you need a new DVR. If it stays at that location regardless of the DVR, then you need DIRECTV to come out there.

We unfortunately don't deal with the R15 because they are so cheap to replace.
