  • Using old hD's for extra storage

So I've got some extra HD's lying around doing nothing.

Two from my old HR10-250's and one from a HR20-700.

I was thinking of getting a couple HD cases and putting them to use for extra storage on my current HR24-500, HR20-700, and HR22-700.

I gather I need to reformat the HD's prior to connecting them to the new receivers.

Any particular process that I need to follow?

First, using externals with those overrides the internals, so unless these drives are larger, it's not worthwhile.

Next, the HR10 drives are PATA, and these units need SATA.

Finally, using an old drive is really not a great idea with these units.
    Been here a long time . . .

      Thanks for the info.

I guess I'll just scrub these, get some cases, and use them for music storage on my audio system.

If I see a "real" need for a large HD, I'll go REALLY big. That way the bridezilla will be happy...
