  • SWM8 distance limitations

My wife and I are in the process of building a new house. I had the house pre-wired with RG-6 Quad Shield. I want to use a SWM8 multiswitch, vs. the SWM dish, as I intend to expand beyond 8 tuners (with another SWM8) at some point, and the single cable run to a DVR is attractive. I read somewhere that the maximum distance betweek the dish and SWM8 is 40 ft. The current runs from where I want to put the SWM8 to the proposed dish location are 56 ft . That will be trimmed some when the connections are terminated and I think I will use a CommDeck dish mount, which should allow me to shave at least 6 ft, but there is no way the runs will end up <= 40 ft. Is the 40 ft length limitation still in effect? Will the RG-6 Quad allow me to stretch that limitation?

Technically, DirecTV does recommend 40 feet as the max, but we've seen several rock-solid installs with longer runs. 56 feet, or shorter, should really be no problem, especially with good, new cable and high-quality connectors.
    Been here a long time . . .
