Hello im doin my own upgrade install and have a couple of questions i hope will be answered i have a 5lnb slimline non SWM and im installing a SWM8 controller at this time im only doing the wiring and incorporating the controller and at a latter date getting swm compatible receivers. Can i use only the legacy ports only untill i get upgraded to new SWM receivers? next if i am only using the 3 legacy ports do i need the power supply on to run the SWM module for legacy? if so do i need to terminate the IRD port on the power supply untill im ready for the new receivers? i want to thank you for any answers.

Yes, you can use only the legacy ports initially, and yes, you need the power inserter running in order to make that work.

You shouldn't really need to terminate the downstream end of the power inserter in that situation.
