  • swm8 getting too hot.

We have a MFH2 with one swm8 in place, with only one customer at this time, with 4 tuners (HR23, H23 and D-12).

Customer is complaning about loosing all HD channels or picture freezing several times during the day.

We replaced a brand new E4 chassis, checked and replaced all connectors, replaced splitter with Directv approved splitter.

The only thing we noticed is that SWM8 is getting too hot, so hot that we can't touch, Is there a reason why the SWM8 gets too hot? and is this causing the problem?

Is the problem happening on both HD receivers? If so, have you tried bypassing the E4 to see if it makes any difference? It shouldn't but it might be worth trying. Also, for troubleshooting, you might consider trying a different SWM. The SWMs can tolerate pretty high temperatures.
