Does SWM require a DTV Tech installation

Is a Directv tech required to install a swm or whole home system? I travel a lot and don't have the regular schedule to reliably schedule an install, preferring to get the equipment and do the work myself (imminently qualified).

I currently have 3 dvrs and 2 receivers. One of the DVR's has a single feed and I want to replace one of the receivers with a DVR.

Cool... then do I have to contact DTV to authorize the whole home feature or does the system just figure it out?

You have to call them. You'll need to reconfigure the units to tell them they should look for a SWM signal, but then you need to call DTV to have them add Whole Home to your account.
