  • Solid State Sata Drive?

The drive in my Series 3 HD Tivo is going the way that all tivo hard drives seem to eventually go.

I think I've got a few weeks (or maybe even a couple months) before it's totally completely dead.

My idea replacement solution would be a sata flash drive for the OS, and external sata drives for the main storage. Has anyone tried this?

What's the minimum space needed for the internal drive? How much space does the OS use, and how much does that tend to increase during an upgrade?

If the magic number is under 16gb, I can see this being affordable. If it's more than that, but still less than 32gb... That'll be expensive, but still better than buying a new tivo.

Basically, the minimum drive size with the available tools is 250 GB - the same size as the original factory drive. That would currently cost a fortune as a flash drive.
    Been here a long time . . .
