  • Newbie Question

I have a year old Series 2 with 80 hour capacity. It restarts on its own several times a week, and I have no PCs running any IM software, so my understanding is this probably indicates a failing disk.
The DIY instructions take about copying the old disk to the new before replacement. If I buy your kits, I can't do that. Besides the Season passes, what do I lose when I buy your upgrade? In particular, will I have to go through the TIVO wireless-setup-from-hell process again, or will that be carried forward even with your replacement disk?

    Thanks

The replacement drive also won't have your shows, obviously, or your thumb ratings (not something most people care about).

But while you will have to re-do the wireless setup, TiVo has really streamlined the process now. So you'll be doing setup with much newer software that is much more advanced, specifically with networking. In almost all cases, it just finds your network, links to it, and you're done.
    Been here a long time . . .

OK, thanks. I think I'll give it a try.
