  • Hard Drive Adapter Addendum

I am just about to start the replace of my HDD with one that I purchased from Weaknees. The initial step is that I need to install an adapter to the drive that was shipped. The adapter has a 3M backing which I believe is like a two-sided tape one side is connected to the adapter while the other side is what goes against the HDD. The sticky portion is protected by a piece of 3M paper. Do I remove this paper? I see the drive connects to the adapter physically using the connectors on the adapter and those on the drive, so I am confused as to whether to remove the paper or not. Thanks.

The point of the tape is really for the cushioning, but you can also remove the paper to expose the adhesive. Generally, though, the adhesive really isn't necessary, and it just makes it harder to remove the adapter should you ever want to uninstall the kit.
    Been here a long time . . .
