  • IDE cable question

I have an old Series 1 that I had previously (like 9 years ago) boosted the capacity by adding a second drive. We are getting a persistent reboot problem, so I figured one of the drives was going bad. I ordered a single replacement drive from Weaknees and figured I'd put it in and it would work fine. I tried doing so tonight, with no luck. I left the old dual slot IDE in and I'm wondering if maybe that had something to do with it? Should I have to replace this cable? If not, does it matter which slot I use (I tried both)?

    Thanks,

    Rod

If you use a dual-drive cable, you should be using the black end of the cable in the new drive, leaving the middle/gray end empty.
